Enlighten Evesham

During the darker winter months some of Evesham’s unique heritage assets are illuminated to tell the town’s story as part of this ambitious lighting trail.

‘It Began with Light’ at the Almonry Museum tells the origin story of Evesham from the vision of the Virgin Mary appearing to Eof the swinesherd, through to the Evesham Abbey coat of arms. Visitors can then marvel at the spectacle of Evesham Bell Tower which is often lit in colour to reflect important dates for the town or raise awareness for charitable causes. Through the Bell Tower you are guided by solar path lighting towards the War Memorial tastefully lit as a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives for our freedom. The lit paths can then be followed down to the riverside where the mature lime trees are illuminated at night. Future phases planned for the project include All Saints and St Lawrence’s churches with the lighting of the stained glass windows and exterior and illuminating the Cloister Arch and the cloister gardens.
