Battlefield Walk

The Battlefield Walk offers a self-guided peaceful yet poignant journey through the site of one of medieval England’s most significant conflicts – the Battle of Evesham.

This decisive clash during the Second Barons’ War saw Prince Edward (later King Edward I) defeat the rebel forces led by Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester, marking a turning point in English history.

Start from the Abbey Park in the centre of Evesham at the de Montfort Memorial just to the south of the tower of the Abbey church, overlooking the river Avon.

From the abbey, walk north along the High Street on the right hand side of the road near a pedestrian crossing are paving stones which show the names and coat of arms of the leading participants. Continue north out of the town along onto Greenhill.

To see the full walk description please visit The Battlefield’s Trust website. There is an optional short walk which provides access to the Leicester Tower and Obelisk in the grounds of Abbey Manor House (no dogs permitted on this section).
