Darren Baker is a translator and historian who took his degree at the University of Connecticut.

Born in California, he has lived in the Czech Republic since 1992. Focusing his medieval studies on the reign of Henry III, he has produced biographies of the king, his brother Richard of Cornwall, and the de Montfort family.

His dual biography of Queen Eleanor of Provence and Eleanor de Montfort has just been released in paperback. In his latest work, he delves into the historic fiction of Lord Edward’s “confessions” as a prisoner of his uncle and former mentor Simon de Montfort, culminating in his escape, victory at Evesham, and the dramatic events of his life before his coronation in 1274.
